Chiropractic Marketing - How to Organize a Patient Appreciation Day

Organizing a Patient Appreciation Day is a fantastic way of thanking your patients while building your chiropractic practice. The gift to your patients is allowing them to bring friends and family in for a free treatment at your office.

You don't need to spend a lot of money, just keep it simple but fun. You can put simple decorations around the office and maybe have some energetic music playing. Just be creative! Below you will find some tips on scheduling, marketing and planning your Chiropractic Patient Appreciation Day which can help you build your practice by leaps and bounds.

When Should You Schedule a Patient Appreciation Day?

Chiropractic Marketing - How to Organize a Patient Appreciation Day

After you have had a Patient Dinner, you want to market your Patient Appreciation Day for the next two weeks. We like to schedule ours on Mondays because when the new patients come in on Monday, I can do my Doctor's Report on Tuesday and Thursday. Now you have a Tuesday opportunity and a Thursday opportunity to present patients with the Doctors Report in the same week after they've received their New Patient exam. That way you won't lose people over the weekend.

Connect Your Patient Appreciation Day to a Theme

You should always connect your Patient Appreciation Dinner to a theme. We connect ours to holidays whenever we can. We schedule ours once a month but when you're just opening, I would recommend scheduling one every eight weeks. Give yourself breathing space when you first open because you're going to have a lot going on.

You want to have your office decorated on some level and you don't really have to do it on a big scale. Also, have a couple of flyers and decorations hanging around so that patients understand that there is something exciting coming up.

Marketing Your Patient Appreciation Dinner (PAD)

There are several different things you can to do to market your PAD:

Have posters up a week before announcing your PAD Have flyers around the office announcing it Have a video playing talking about it or an LED screen running Have banners marketing your PAD inside and outside the office Make your patients reserve their spot for the PAD over the phone Have a dry erase board in the office that announces your upcoming events and workshops

Tie Your PAD into ALL Your Marketing Efforts

You will want to tie your PAD into all the marketing for your practice. You can tie it into your radio, your outside workshops, your community public relations, your newspaper ads.

You clan also give your patients stacks of flyers and have them pass them out at their work, church, clubs, schools, etc.

Be consistent. When the patients come to expect that your PAD is going to happen every month, they will start asking you when the next one is. On the day of your PAD you will start marketing the next one, so there is always a PAD that you are marketing.

You can schedule your events quarterly or a year in advance. Print the dates up on cards and pass them out so your patients can anticipate the dates and can write them down in their calendars.

Your "Check-In" Person

It is essential for you to hire a "Check-in-person" who is very friendly. This person should not be timid, but someone who loves to connect with people and has an outgoing personality. This person is the main engine that powers the event and gets everyone excited and having fun. The hiring of this person is one of the most important decisions you will make.

Conducting a Keyword Search Inside PDF Files

PDF actually stands for "Portable Document Format". It was created by Adobe Systems in 1993 for use with their Adobe Readers. It makes uploading documents on the Internet much easier and protects the intellectual property rights of the owner. Being documents, there also comes a time when you need to make a keyword search inside PDF files. How exactly do you do that, since PDF files are read only?

Surprisingly, searching for keywords within a PDF document is the same procedure as searching for keywords in a DOC format document, or in any other document format for that matter.

In order to search for keywords, just click Edit on the command bar. You can also press ctrl+shift+F if you feel like doing a little nimble finger work. If you have a sharp eye, you will notice that there is a shortcut search command on one of the bars in the reader window, although this shortcut only appears in certain versions of Adobe Reader. Anyway, getting a new version is easy over the Internet and can be downloaded for free from the website of Adobe Systems.

Conducting a Keyword Search Inside PDF Files

Sounds simple, right? Wrong. It is possible to conduct keyword searches in PDF files, however only if the text is clear enough. This is because any document, when scanned, can be saved as a PDF file. These documents would include photocopies of hard copy documents, handwritten papers, pictures, pages of books, and a lot more. Text clarity and legibility is important when searching for keywords in PDF files.

The search engine in PDF documents uses a text recognition system that recognizes the characters and letters appearing in the document. This engine can locate, identify and recognize characters and letters appearing in various fonts, sizes, and styles because these fonts have been pre-programmed into the search engine. This is the reason why the search engine of Adobe Reader programs cannot recognize handwritten text. Handwritten text always varies from person to person and to recognize them all would be impossible because that would mean that the search engine will have to recognize over 8 billion handwritten texts. Okay, not really, but it would mean that the engine will have to recognize the handwriting of every user.

Also, since it is impossible to edit documents in a PDF format. There will be a need to convert the file into another format, such as a DOC format for example. There are programs that you can download for free all over the Internet for this. However, you can also save the PDF file as a text document by clicking File on the command bar and selecting "Save as Text". This will convert the PDF file into a text document you can save and later edit.

When making a keyword search inside PDF files, make sure that the document is clearly copied, if it is a scanned document. Make sure that the letters and characters appear clearly because if they are not, you will just be wasting your time and would be better off making a painstakingly manual search for your keyword.

The Difference Between Marketing and Selling

Many people are confused about marketing versus selling. They're not actually the same thing. Marketing can best be described as getting the product to market, whereas selling involves actually closing the sale with a potential customer. Some people also refer to closing the sale as the "conversion," referring to the fact that the potential customer is converted into an actual customer.

Marketing then, involves a lot of preliminary work before the client ever becomes directly involved. This includes researching the market to identify who the target customers are and what they are looking for. It also involves identifying the best way to reach those potential customers based on their needs and desires. A good "marketing message" will draw potential customers in by addressing or meeting those needs and desires. This increases the chance that they will eventually purchase your product or service.

Marketing can be done offline or online via the Internet. Online offers some advantages because it is inexpensive or even free. By conducting a keyword search or using a search engine and some software, you can find out data that might otherwise cost you considerably to compile via other means. So this can be a very cost effective means of conducting research.

The Difference Between Marketing and Selling

There are some areas where marketing and sales intersect or overlap. One area is when you create the "pitch." Most people are familiar with the term "sales pitch," but the sales pitch is not about selling alone. It is also about the development and delivery of that marketing message so that consumers will receive it.

Effective marketing then also includes clear effective delivery of the "pitch" to consumers. This should be done through whatever means you use to communicate with your potential customers-including in print or media advertising or through point-of-purchase displays and other means. Your "pitch" or your message should be clear and professional and build trust.

Many sales people consider selling as a way of overcoming objections. If a consumer is considering the purchase of a product, they already desire the product, but chances are they have objections that stand between that desire and making the actual purchase. The research conducted during the marketing process should identify all the potential objections that might arise prior to a sale. It can also help address some of these concerns and objections up front. Then, you increase your odds of closing the actual sale.

Marketing then is a lot about numbers, research, and statistics. But that's not enough by itself. Marketing is also an art. It involves understanding human motivations, as well. Those motivations determine how, when, what, and why they buy.

Internet marketing-and in fact, all marketing-seems to be focused on numbers. You will often hear the media focusing on how many potential customers you can reach via a particular means of advertising or by sending emails, etc. But just because you expose your message to thousands or millions of people does not guarantee success.

You won't automatically get a particular percentage of people to purchase from you just because they hear about you. It's not that simple. Certain groups of people are going to be more inclined to purchase your product or service based on their specific motivations. So rather than just putting your message out there for everyone (and paying to do that), good marketing focuses on speaking to and being heard by the right demographic group that is more likely to purchase what you are selling.

Marketing - when done well - is pretty seamless. Compelling ad copy and attractive graphics make it seem easy. Effective marketing uses these tools to convey the appropriate message to the target market. When marketing is well done, products or services seem to almost sell themselves.

Understanding Your Car's Engine Control Unit (ECU)

These days, you will find new cars with the latest incorporated engine technology. The engine of a car has undergone a massive change, right from the age old carburetor to the Engine Control Unit (ECU). In the 19th century, when the first single-cylinder petrol engine driver car came into force, it was the "Carburetor" that came into existence. Later on, multi cylinder engines were considered as a new thing. Finally, in the early 80's we got a new car system, consisting of controlled - feeding of fuel, air and ignition spark to the ICE cylinders. It was the fuel-injection system that was born, which replaced the century old carburetors. In a multi point fuel injection system, it injects fuel into individual cylinders. The injection of the fuel takes place on the basis of the commands from the "on board engine management system" computer. This computer is known as the engine control unit or the ECU.

The main process based job of an engine control unit (ECU) is to control the various features of an internal combustion engine's operation. Earlier, the ECU that was fitted in most of the cars and had their engine parameters fixed. Also, the carburetor would determine the required quantity of fuel per cylinder/per engine cycle. In other words, the simple version of the ECU'S would control only the quantity of fuel injected into each cylinder, at each engine cycle. The advanced types of engine control unit (ECU), which are fitted on most modern cars, are capable of controlling the ignition timing, variable value timing (VVT) and other peripherals.

The ECU'S (Engine control unit) monitors the engine by using sensors so that it can gather information about the cars quantity of fuel, ignition timing and other such parameters. The ECU works according to the input data that it gets from the various sensors that are located within the engine. The various types of sensors that are fitted all over the engine are MAP sensor, throttle position sensor, air temperature sensor, oxygen sensor and many more. The sensors incorporated within the engine, are basically used to determine the various "operating states of the engine and its performance. These sensors monitor's various aspects such as the ambient air temperature, engine/coolant temperature, exhaust /main fold temp, exhaust O2 content, throttle position, the rpm of the engine, the vehicle road speed and crankshaft position. The ECU (Engine Control Unit) uses the closed -loop control method, where it monitors the output of a system in order to control the inputs to a system. Since, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) gathers data from various different sensors, it knows all about the coolant temperature to the amount of oxygen in the exhaust. On the basis of this available data, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) starts performing huge calculations every second. On the bases of the programmed interpretation of all the available input data, the ECU ( Engine Control Unit) will deliver the required commands to the engine's fuel intake and spark ignition timings system and thus help in bringing out a satisfactory performance of the car's engine.

Check Engine Lights: Myths and Facts

You're driving along and suddenly your Check Engine Light comes on. What does it mean? Check Engine Light, Check Engine Soon Light, Service Engine Soon Light, Engine Light, Engine Management Light, whatever you want to call it, simply means that your vehicle's computer system has detected a problem.

Depending on the year, make, and model, it may be related to the engine, the transmission, even the brakes and suspension. There are literally hundreds of reasons a Check Engine Light may appear. The following questions and answers discussion will clarify the truth about Check Engine Lights.

Service Engine Soon Light FAQ:

Check Engine Lights: Myths and Facts

Can the car be driven? The general rule is: if the Service Engine Soon Light is on, and the car seems to be running ok, you can drive it. However, you should have it checked at your earliest convenience.

If your vehicle is running poorly--bucking, stalling, hesitating, or you just don't feel safe, tow it. When in doubt always tow it!

The check engine light went out by itself. Is it OK now? Probably not. Check Engine Lights often come and go. Even if the light is out, your vehicle's computer system will retain information that will allow the problem to be diagnosed. To avoid potential long term issues, get it checked out.

My check engine light stays on. What should I do?
If your check engine light stays on constantly, follow the instructions above, under "Can the car be driven?" Don't panic.

Can I disconnect the battery, or pull a fuse to reset the service engine soon light? Maybe, but I wouldn't. Removing the battery cable or an ECM or PCM fuse may clear the code, but it is not universally recommended in the industry. Most manufacturers advise against it. See the Best Way to Reset Check Engine Light Codes below.

What is the Check Engine Light?
The Check Engine Light is a warning light for multiple systems operating in your vehicle. In simplest terms, it's like an engine management warning light to alert you of a problem. Just like your computer pops up with an "error message window" saying that something's wrong, your service engine soon light pops up to warn you that it has detected a malfunction: mechanical, technical, software, or otherwise.

How to Reset Check Engine Light?
This is a great question! I get it all the time. See the guide below.

Resetting Check Engine Light:

First, if your Check Engine Light is on, it's on for a reason. The Check Engine Light indicates that your vehicle's on-board computers have stored a fault code. There are hundreds of fault codes, any one or more could be stored in the computers memory.

Fault codes contain critical data for accurate diagnoses of the problem.

Sometimes the fault code points directly to a faulty component, allowing for a quick diagnoses and repair. Other times, the code may only indicate a problem circuit and thus extensive diagnostic procedures may be required.

By resetting the Service Engine Soon Light, it erases important fault code data that turned the check engine light on in the first place. Without this critical information, the root problem can not be discerned.

Unfortunately, there is no universally accepted way to safely turn off a check engine light. Even if there was, if the root problem is not addressed, it will come back on.

So whether it's a Chevrolet Service Engine Soon Light, Camry Check Engine Light, Mighty Max Check Engine Light, or a 1993 Thunderbird Check Engine Light, they require individual procedures to diagnose, repair, and reset the check engine light code.

Following is a Safe and FREE way for resetting check engine light codes.

Best Way to Reset Check Engine Light Codes:

If you're not interested in diagnosing your truck, SUV or car Check Engine Light, or it's already fixed, and you just want the engine light out, visit any local repair shop. Most shops will have a universal Check Engine Light Code Reader that can quickly and safely reset, and check engine light trouble codes. It should take about 30 seconds.

Note: European models are better off with a specialist, and some older vehicles may require more time.

Here's what to do:
Politely ask your local service center (ask a technician if you see one) if they could reset the check engine light with their Check Engine Light Code Reader. They may protest, arguing that the problem must first be diagnosed.

Tell the service representative that you understand fully, and that you appreciate his professionalism. But that you would just like to try resetting the Service Engine Soon Light, and if it comes on again, you'll come back for a full diagnosis.

Be genuine. Service representatives respond positively to sincerity. If the service center wants to charge you just to reset your Service Engine Light, try another facility.

Alternatively, some parts suppliers such as Napa or AutoZone, will reset your check engine light at no charge. Just be wary of cheap parts and bad advice.

IMPORTANT, check engine light repairs can be quite costly given their technical nature. Service centers can easily hide behind complex technical language to inflate the difficulty of your Check Engine Light concern.

7 Self Introduction Strategies For a Successful Interview

Fresh out of college? Recently laid off? Re-entering the work force? You can gain an advantage over those dozens of other qualified people interviewing for the same job by using these 7 Self Introduction Strategies for a Successful Interview.

In any interview you want to present yourself as a skilled and knowledgeable professional who is a great team player and enthusiastic about the company and the position for which you are interviewing. These self introduction strategies will help present you in the best light so that you stand out from other interviewees and make the best possible impression during the interview.

1. Preparation - Preparation is key. This means to research the company; find out what they do and how they do it. Has there been some recent online article? Has there been a story about the company, its products or a member of management in a local magazine or newspaper? Perhaps there has been a feature story on the radio or TV? Digging these up and relating them casually during the course of your interview will make a good impression on the interviewer.

7 Self Introduction Strategies For a Successful Interview

Conduct research on the company's products and services. What are they? How do they compare to those of the competition? Who is the competition? How does the company produce or distribute its products or services? What were last year's (or last quarter's) sales figures? Interject these facts into your interview and you will appear knowledgeable, professional and you will definitely stand out from any other interviewee.

Research the position you are applying for. Details may not be possible to uncover, but you should understand the broad responsibilities as well as the specific skills and experience you are bringing to the table. Mention these skills and experience and even if you are wrong about the details of the position, you will still appear as enthusiastic.

2. Rehearsal - Now that you have all the facts about the company, you need to memorize them all and present them in a way that doesn't seem wooden or as if you're reading from a teleprompter. This is where rehearsal comes in. You may try a full blown dress rehearsal wearing the same type of attire that you would wear for the interview. While some people swear this helps, others consider it overkill. Only you can tell.

Recite the facts about the company and present a few relevant details about yourself stressing how much of a team player you are or other bits of information you have gleaned from the job description. How do you fit in? Explain this. How is your experience helpful to the company? Tell them. How can you use your knowledge and skills to benefit your future employer? Let them know. Present these in short "sound bites". Rehearse them until they feel and sound natural and not rehearsed.

3. Questions - You may have heard about how important relevant questions are and you would be right. From your research you should have uncovered several areas you may feel uncertain about or a few things you would like clarification on. These are good things. Write these down. Memorize them if possible, but don't be afraid to pull out a 3x5 card during the course of the interview if you need to remind yourself what your questions are. You can also buy a book at a copyshop or office supply store that features key questions to ask your interviewer. This is always good.

4. Formality - Now that you are at the interview you need to know what to do. Obviously, you need to arrive on time and this means 10 to 20 minutes early. Not 5 minutes. Not 1 minute. Never late! Be early. This will give you time to mentally rehearse the interview in your mind, review your cheat sheet of questions, powder your nose and otherwise prepare yourself comfortably for the interview.

Dress one level up from the position you are applying for. This is a subjective assessment and sometimes I have guessed wrong, but you can rarely go wrong from a neat appearance. If in doubt, dress up.

Be professional, courteous and likable with everyone you meet. You never know whom you are greeting or with whom you may be working when you are hired.

And keep the cell phone off, the PSP at home, and the earbuds and headphones in the car - but, believe it or not - a Bluetooth is ok, if you do not talk on it.

5. Friendly - It is your time to shine! You want to be courteous and friendly to everyone you meet, especially during the interview. Appear likable, smile and lean forward, don't fidget. A few tricks I learned from the NLP school follow, but don't make them obvious.

Try to mirror the position of the interviewer. Match their position with your own. If they cross their legs, wait a minute or two then cross your legs. If they lean forward, count to 30, then lean forward. If they nod their head, nod your head. If you have your resume or notepad in front of you, turn it to mirror any material they may have. Do this with your peripheral vision. Never look directly at something then attempt to mirror it, you will get caught. When answering a question, repeat the question or a few key words of the question or rephrase it before presenting your answer. Be yourself.

6. Interesting - You must capture the interest of your interviewer. You do this by applying the steps above plus you mention a few favorite anecdotes from your experience that demonstrate how you have successfully faced a challenge, resolved a problem, been a good team player, stayed late to complete a project or soothed a disgruntled co-worker or customer. Add a tidbit of your work experience that shows how you have added value to a previous employer. If you get a few of these together - how you have added value - you can use them for that all important question, "why should we consider you for this position?" And this brings us to 7.

7. Unique - Being unique is the key to getting the job. If you stand out from all the other candidates, if you can appear friendly and interesting, if you are on time and dressed appropriately and if you can demonstrate just how much of a positive impact your skills and experience will bring to the company, you will get hired.

By following these strategies of self introduction in interviews you will almost certainly be one of, if not the top choice for consideration.

SWOT Analysis -- Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats

When conducting strategic planning for any company -- online and/or offline -- it is useful to complete an analysis that takes into account not only your own business, but your competitors' activities and current industry happenings as well. A SWOT is one such analysis.

Completing a SWOT analysis helps you identify ways to minimize the affect of weaknesses in your business while maximizing your strengths. Ideally, you will match your strengths against market opportunities that result from voids in your competitors' products and/or services.

Traditionally, a SWOT confines strengths and weaknesses to your company's internal workings while opportunities and threats refer only to the external environment. Here, I suggest a twist to the "text book" approach. To get a better look at the big picture, consider both internal *and* external forces when uncovering opportunities and threats.

SWOT Analysis -- Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats

A Basic SWOT Analysis

You can develop the basic analysis in a brainstorming session with members of your company, or by yourself if you are a one-person shop. To begin the analysis create a four- cell grid or four lists, one for each component:

| Strengths | Weaknesses | Opportunities | Threats |

Then, begin filling in the lists.

Strengths. Think about what your company does well. Some questions to help you get started are: What makes you stand out from your competitors? What advantages do you have over other businesses?

Weaknesses. List the areas that are a struggle for your company. Some questions to help you get started are: What do your customers complain about? What are the unmet needs of your sales force?

Opportunities. Traditionally, a SWOT looks only at the external environment for opportunities. I suggest you look externally for areas your competitors are not fully covering, then go a step further and think how to match these to your internal strengths.

Try to uncover areas where your strengths are not being fully utilized. Are there emerging trends that fit with your company's strengths? Is there a product/service area that others have not yet covered?

Threats. As with opportunities, threats in a traditional SWOT analysis are considered an external force. By looking both inside and outside of your company for things that could damage your business, however, you may be better able to see the big picture.

Some questions to get you started: Are your competitors becoming stronger? Are there emerging trends that amplify one of your weaknesses? Do you see other external threats to your company's success? Internally, do you have financial, development, or other problems?

Expanded SWOT Analysis

You can take an additional step beyond a traditional "text book" SWOT analysis by delving deeper into industry dynamics. A more in-depth SWOT analysis can help you better understand your company's competitive situation.

One way to step beyond a traditional SWOT analysis is to include more detailed competitor information in the analysis. Note Internet-related activities such as trade organization participation, search engine inclusion, and outside links to the sites. This will better help you spot opportunities for and threats to your company.

You can also take a closer look at the business environment. Often, opportunities arise as a result of a changing business environment. Some examples are:

A new trend develops for which demand outstrips the supply of quality options. Early on, the trend toward healthy eating coupled with an insistence on good-tasting food produced a shortage of acceptable natural food alternatives, for example.

A customer segment is becoming more predominant, but their specific needs are not being fully met by your competitors. The U.S. Hispanic population experienced this phenomenon in the late 1990's and early 2000's.

A customer, competitor, or supplier goes out of business or merges with another company. With the demise of many pure- play "dot coms", examples of this abound. As each went out of business, opportunities arise to gain the defunct business' customers.

You can also expand the reach of a SWOT analysis through surveys. You can learn more about your own as well as competitor's sites and businesses. Areas to consider researching include 1) customer awareness, interest, trial, and usage levels, 2) brand, site, and/or company image, 3) importance of different site or product attributes to your customers, and 4) product and/or site performance.

Whether using a basic or more advanced approach to SWOT analysis, you are sure to come away with newfound insights. Use these to increase your company's effectiveness and as input into your business or marketing plan.
